Benjamin Britten – War Requiem

Notes: Composed for the Dedication of Coventry Cathedral in 1962, the Cathedral Choral Society did the second set of U. S. performances in 1964, and repeated it in 1968. This is the recording of the 1964 performance, Maria Di Gerlando, Soprano, Charles Bressler, Tenor, John Reardon, Baritone. Timpanist Freddy Begun's performance of "Be slowly lifted up..." is hair-raising.
