Exsultet

NOT the 1979 BCP text.  The interpolated “Christ has died / Christ is risen” make it inappropriate in its current Vigil spot but it could be used to good effect AFTER the Easter proclamation.

Genre: Canticles & Liturgies
D No: 306
Text - Author or Scripture: NOT the BCP text! Trans from the Latin by Frederick Brittain (1893-1969)
Performing Forces: Solo
Date Published: MS
Date of Composition: 1973
Notes: A virutosic free chant setting written for tenor Charles Bressler to sing at the Easter Vigil in 1973(?). The interpolated choral responses, "Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again," render it unfit for liturgical use at the assigned place in the order for Easter Vigil in the current BCP. It could be, however, be used to striking effect after the Easter Proclamation.
